At Streamwood Montessori the kindergarten curriculum includes Language, Mathematics, Science, History, Geography, Spanish, Music, and Art. Children work in both a mixed-age Montessori setting and in specialized group lessons for more advanced exploration and application.
In addition to obtaining knowledge and understanding of advanced concepts, children develop patterns of learning, behavior and attitudes that serve as a foundation for all areas of life and education. Children learn for their enjoyment, have excellent memory/retention, function independently and respond positively. They consciously choose challenging activities and demonstrate a strong ability to concentrate and to follow directions. Children generally achieve academic capabilities well beyond the traditional curriculum for this age group.
Streamwood Montessori's kindergarten is registered with the Illinois State Board of Education and our kindergarten curriculum meets and exceeds the Illinois Early Learning Standards for kindergarten programs.
